BETA CHEAT OPTIONS:

It is still a major debate whether or not the "All Bonds" were earned as a cheat. I don't think that they were, and that once the required level was beaten, they just appeared on the select screen, like Oddjob, Mayday, and the rest of the ? Mark Characters. For Info on the All Bonds, See my All Bonds section.

We should know next to nothing about the beta cheat options. We have nothing from magazines, or previews for us to know about them. But the powers of the Gameshark come into play here. With a Gameshark, you can activate many long lost cheats, all of which have their own placing among the existing cheats. They all appear as "NO NAME", but when activated, this turns a new cheat ON. You can go to a level, and sometimes during the intro, it will mention which cheats are ON. Of course the best Gameshark cheat is Line Mode. It fits right in there, and it's name is even included, without being NO NAME.

In total, there are 9 cheats that can be activated with a Gameshark, and can't be earned during the game. They are: 800696XX 0001

Just replace 'XX' with the following values:

51 Extra Characters

54 Maximum Ammo

57 Line Mode

58 Super 2X Health

59 Super 2X Armor

5D Extra Weapons

60 Super 10X Health

66 Invisible (Multi)

69 Debug Mode

I made this shot in a painting program, placing the cheats in their correct orders, and giving the NO NAME cheats their real names. This shows the orders in which they would appear. Of course all the weapon cheats, (Magnum, Golden Gun, Laser, ect.) would not have been here, as all of them are available with the Extra Weapons cheat.

I believe that there were no more than 24 cheats at a time, this picture just demonstrates the orders in which the cheats belong.

If I had to guess, I would say that the three cheats that don't fit are the ones that give extra health, and extra armor. This would make a complete 24 cheats, a nice even number. But why were so many half decent ones deleted, and replaced with single weapon cheats?

Line Mode: Some people argue that Line Mode was never a cheat, and it's all a just a big glitch with Gameshark that takes away the colors. This is not true, because Rare has admitted that they had Line Mode, but kept it out of the game. Also, if it were just a Gameshark glitch, then we would not be able to find it in the Cheat Options, or turn it on and off.

Line Mode isn't useful at all, it just makes the game seem different to play, with all of the colors and textures taken out, all that shows are the pen lines, as if the whole game was drawn without being colored in. Regardless of how useful Line Mode is, I would have preferred to have it in the cheats folder, as opposed to the even less entertaining blank cheat slot. We now know of the button code to activate Line Mode whenever we choose, without Gameshark. See my Button Codes section.

Extra Weapons: Probably the most significant change in the game's cheat options was the "Extra Weapons" cheat. With it turned ON, you play the game with the Golden Gun, Magnum, Silver PP7, Gold PP7, and Laser. What do these weapons have in common? They are all of the single gun cheats that you can now earn in the final game. This "Extra Weapons" cheat leads us to believe that it was a cheat containing these weapons, and then the cheat's guns were split apart into separate cheats. A poor choice in development. All of these guns are useless once All Guns is earned, plus, they take up a total of 5 cheat slots. Surely the programmers could have thought of a better way to utilize the cheat options better... Couldn't they? Gameshark 8006965D 0001.

Extra Characters: We all know about the ten step code that can be entered to give you every Multiplayer character, including the game's programmers, and a Terrorist and Biker, all dressed in black tuxs. Well, these characters can also be unlocked as another NO NAME cheat. I cannot understand why this cheat was removed, unless the programmers decided that no one would want to play as them? But why include a Terrorist and a Biker? Those are without a doubt the best characters that you can't earn. Fortunately, we automatically earn all of the game's guards after beating the Cradle, but there is no way to earn the programmers. Gameshark 80069651 0001.

Multiplayer Invisibility (Bond Phase?): Another decent cheat, allows the characters in Multiplayer to be invisible. This cheat would have also been better than the blank slot at the bottom, but it was removed. The one thing wrong with this cheat, is that after your character dies, and reappears, he will no longer be invisible. The characters aren't completely invisible though. You can see them VERY faintly. Of course you have to look close to pick them out. I've heard rumors that this cheat is called Bond Phase. Why it would be called that, I have no idea. Gameshark 80069666 0001.

Debug Mode: This NO NAME cheat will place a bar at the top of your screen while playing a mission. It will show exactly where you are in the level. The x, y, and z co-ordinates, as well as which direction you are facing. Not a great cheat, just interesting. Gameshark 80069669 0001.

And now, onto the lame cheats. These cheats would all be pretty much useless in the final game. Invincible and Infinite Ammo would make the following cheats absolutely pointless:

Maximum Ammo: When you pick up a new weapon, it's ammo will be filled all the way to capacity. This might come in handy, when first picking up an RC-P90, when you usually don't even have enough bullets to fill one of it's massive magazines. Or when almost completing a level, and picking up a shotgun. You wouldn't have any shotgun cartridges, so you are limited to only a few shots before needing more. This cheat is completely overthrown by Infinite Ammo. Gameshark 80069654 0001.

Super 2X Health: Takes twice as many bullets/explosions to kill Bond. But why have twice the health, when you could be completely Invincible? Gameshark 80069658 0001.

Super 2X Armor: The same thing as the 2X health... Only you start with body armor that lasts for twice as much damage as it normally does. Gameshark 80069659 0001.

Super 10X Health: Ok. Same thing as 2X health, but this time you have 10 times your normal health instead of 2. You can take a surprising amount of damage with this. Perhaps it was intended for practicing how to control while being shot, without worrying about dying? Gameshark 80069660 0001.

While adding these various NO NAME cheats to my folder, I noticed that after you had a total of 24, the extra ones would simply be pushed further down the second column. The first one down could still be selected though. The remaining ones after that could not be selected, even the one that was still on screen. In this shot, the 2X Hunting Knife cheat is there, but cannot be selected, while the 2X Lasers cheat is completely off the screen.

I've compiled a list of all the game's cheats, even the ones that can be activated with Gameshark. I've included their value numbers, and they do seem to follow a pattern... They follow the EXACT order as the list that I came up with at the top of this page, putting the cheats in order as they appear in the folder, each having it's own place.
