THE BETA STREETS:

Again, this is a level where we don't have much at all to try and piece together it's Beta side. Rare covered their tracks really well on this level. But one major thing has been discovered with Gameshark and Action Replay codes: Ourumov's car.

In the movie, Bond chases Ourumov's car down the streets with a tank. In the game, Ourumov is nowhere to be seen. You just have a counter, and you have to reach the end before the counter runs down. Kind of lame, really.

I might as well start off by removing all doubt that the car belongs to Ourumov: Look at this shot from the movie. Notice the license plate when compared with the Gamesharked black car. The same plate number. A VERY big coincidence? I think not.

Thanks to Craig Stickland for informing me of the identical plates.

Here are some better shots of the car, which is actually the Dam's truck here, with the modifier code to make it the car. Imagine having to chase this down the Streets. Oh, what fun!

Another fact, is that the car can move, with it's wheels turning. This means that it had to have been programmed to move at one time.

Another question is why Valentin appears in this level. He didn't in the movie. There is no real reason for having him here, just to delay Ourumov, which we never see. I think he was just an add-on to this level because of the removal of chasing Ourumov's car.

Another thing I noticed, was this metal wall (left). You can partially see through it. I used GS with no clipping to see what’s behind it, and it's just a dead end. Probably just blocked off to avoid confusion.

This wooden fence near the start of the level, can also be partially seen through. It was probably sealed off again to make the level more straight forward, and less confusing with all these dead ends.

Again, with Gameshark, I went through the wooden wall. Again, another dead end, simply sealed off by a barrier. If it was simply put here for detail, the windows around the corner wouldn't be needed. It was accessible, then sealed off.

I've heard rumors about these gas pumps, but they were only put here for detail. The set of the Goldeneye movie had them, so the programmers included it here too. In case you don't recognize it, it's at the start of the level in front of the tank.

Another strange thing that I've picked out, is the moving jeep code. This means that there was a level with a moving jeep at one time. And what other level than the Streets? I actually think that maybe it was the hope of the programmers to have Soldiers chasing Bond while driving a jeep, just like in the movie. Of course all this would be difficult to pull of smoothly, so we were left with this less than exciting level to play. The moving jeep was simply not removed from the game, like so many other things.
