BETA VEHICLES:
Thanks largely to video game enhancers like Gameshark and Action Replay,
many hidden vehicles in Goldeneye's memory have been uncovered. We've
been able to piece together where most of them were located at one time,
but the location of others still remain uncertain.
All of these vehicles can be accessed with Gameshark or Action replay.
The following codes will make the vehicle appear at the start of the Dam
level, by replacing the green truck that's normally there.
Gameshark: 801E8D37
00YY, 801E8D39 00XX
Action Replay: 801D00C7
00YY, 801D00C9 00XX

Red Transport Truck:
YY: 28
XX: 19
 This
red transport truck can actually be made to move, following the path of
the Dam's truck, with it's wheels moving. That means it must have been
mobile, when it was in the game. But where was it? Take a look at the
wheels on this trailer from the Depot.
The very same. This is where I think it must have been located. But what
purpose did it serve? Was it mainly for detail? Making it useless? Leading
to it's removal? That would be my guess. Having a truck move a trailer
around a train depot would certainly make the game more realistic.

Black Transport Trailer:
YY: 2F
XX: 1E
 Definitely
the least interesting of all these vehicles. It's just a completely black
trailer, shadowed all over. I was suspisious of the shadows, so I turned
on the "no shadows" Gameshark code, to reveal... The Depot's trailer!
Not a beta vehicle after all. Just the exact same trailer from the Depot.

Camouflage Chopper:
YY: 28
XX: 1D
This
is one of my favorite "beta" vehicles. But there is little to
suggest where it might have been in Mission mode. Evidence shows
that Xenia once "got the drop on Bond" in the Jungle,
suggesting she came from an above helicopter, like in the movie.
Was this the helicopter that was used? I would tend to think it
would need a side door, like the chopper at the end of the game.
But maybe you didn't see her drop out, but only saw the chopper
fly overhead. There is also the factor of the chopper noise at
the end of the train. Was a chopper intended for there as well?
It could very well have been this chopper... The chopper takes
off from the train in the Goldeneye movie, has the same red star
on the side.
The
helicopter above doesn't appear to have been designed by Rare...
Compare it with this photo of the MI-24-Hind. The two are
quite similar, and almost identical. |

Armored Vehicle:
YY: 07
XX: 21
No
clue here. It's a fully armored, 8 wheeled machine. I have no idea what
purpose such a vehicle would ever have had in the game. My best guess,
would be a rough terrain vehicle used by Siberian Soldiers in the Surface
level , to come after Bond. It's white, and would be camouflaged against
the snow. But again, simply an educated guess.

|
Green Boat:
YY: 2F
XX: 22
 The
boat that was intended for Bond to reach the distant island in the Dam
level. It has stars at both the front and back. It's also another cool
looking vehicle. Imagine driving it... Or would it automatically take
you there, without you being able to steer? Either way, I'm positive that's
what it was for.
|
|
Motorbike:
YY: 07
XX: 1F
Finally,
the motorbike. The bike in the GoldenEye movie was in the Runway,
and I'm positive that's where it was located in the game as well. Actually
creating the driving of the bike would have been difficult, and the idea
of a driving bike was scrapped. But here it is, only for looking, not
for riding, like so many of these other "beta" vehicles.

|
Ourumov's Car:
YY: 28
XX: 31
 It's
Ourumov's car, and where else would we find it, but moving in
the Streets. It's another vehicle that can move along the path
of the truck. As you can see by the inset screenshot, it has the
same license plate as Ourumov's car from the GoldenEye movie.
It was most likely that you pursued the car, while driving the
tank. But now, instead of racing against a car, we get to race
against the clock.

|
Jeep:
YY: 27
XX: 18
Okay,
so this is NOT a beta vehicle. But why am I including it here?
Because it can also be made to move, with it's wheels turning.
In the Streets of the GoldenEye movie, soldiers chased Bond chasing
Ourumov in jeeps. So it's my theory that the same thing was intended
for the game. Imagine how great and interactive this level could
have been. Now, it's one of the lesser entertaining levels.
