Ok,
ok, I know what you're thinking, "Man, that isn't a fair comparison."
but before you close the window let me explain what I'm going to be comparing.
I'm going to be how accurate I thought each level was in comparison to
it's matching scene in the movie. I'll give points for story accuracy
and level accuracy. Also, I offer my personal opinion on each level compared
to the movie.

Mission 1: DAM
Story Accuracy:
6/10
Level Accuracy: 7/10
You're
probably wondering why I gave such a low story score. Well, that's not
necessarily a bad thing. In the movie, all we see of the Dam is Bond coming
through the gate and bungee jump down the face of the Dam. If that was
all you did in the game without any confrontation with enemies it would
be kind of dull. So a low story accuracy score is sometimes the best thing
for a video game.

Mission 2: FACILITY
Story Accuracy:
7/10
Level Accuracy: 8/10
There
were quite a few instances in this level where Rare decided to mix up
the story a bit. In the movie, the first thing 007 does after entering
the facility via the bathroom is meet Trevelyan in a room just off to
the side of the bathroom stairs. For some reason, Rare decided to hold
off the meeting with 006 until the very end of the game. Personally, I
think that blasting through the level with Trevelyan would have been much
more fun than going solo. If Rare was able to make Natalya fight along
side you, why not Trevelyan as well?

Mission 3: RUNWAY
Story Accuracy:
9/10
Level Accuracy: 9/10
The
level in the game is pretty much the same as the scene in the movie.
The only exception is that you have to get the key to start the
plane (which is immobile) and that you have a tank instead of a
motorbike to drive down the runway.

Missions 4&5: SURFACE
& BUNKER
Story Accuracy:
0/10
Level Accuracy: 8/10
Though
both of these levels are highly detailed and very closely resemble the
actual locations in the movie, 007 never visited Severnaya. Since this
never actually happened in the movie it gets a zero for story accuracy.

|
The
Bunker was a good way to introduce Boris into the story, since Bond never
actually visits Severnaya in the movie.

Mission 6: SILO
Story Accuracy:
0/10
Level Accuracy: 0/10
I
don't know what part of the movie this level is supposed to represent.
I've heard rumors that the level itself is based on a scene in the 007
movie Diamonds are Forever. Since I have nothing from the movie to base
it on it gets zeros in both categories. The Goldeneye satellite is found
in this mission, which is the only real part that connects the Silo to
the main story.

Mission 7: FRIGATE
Story Accuracy:
4/10
Level Accuracy: 8/10
In the movie, Bond is only on the Frigate for a short time. He comes on
board to try and stop the Tiger helicopter (Pirate) from taking off, unlike
the game. As for the board itself, it's pretty accurate to the actual
frigate on the outside. The insides to the movie frigate are a complete
mystery.

Mission 8&9: SURFACE
2 & BUNKER 2
Story Accuracy:
0/10
Level Accuracy: 8/10
The
situation here is the same as Surface 1 and Bunker 1. Though the levels
are accurate to how the location actually looked, they never happened
in the movie.
|
|
Instead
of having their first encounter in the Archives, Bond and Natalya meet
for the first time here in the Bunker.

|
Mission 10: STATUE
Story Accuracy:
8/10
Level Accuracy: 9/10
Statue
is another one of the levels which are very similar to the movie both
in story and location. The only major story differences are that Bond
meets with Zukovsky in the park and that Bond isn't held in the helicopter.
Other than that the stories were pretty much one and the same.
