00 Agent: James Bond

Mission 6: St. Petersburg

Part v: Train

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

  1. Destroy brake units
  2. Rescue Natalya
  3. Locate Janus secret base
  4. Crack Boris' password
  5. Escape to safety

BACKGROUND:  The leader of Janus, Alec Trevelyan, is holding Natalya hostage on his armored train.

M BRIEFING: We've lost experienced agents before in hostage situations. Keep a clear head, 007, and don't get sidetracked settling old scores.

Q BRANCH: A train, 007, pretty simple. Destroy the braking units in each carriage and the emergency systems should bring it to a halt.

Head left from your starting point, and behind a small stack of crates. Look to the right, through a small crack to pick off a guard behind a crate. Next, look right to pick off another guard.

Look even further around the corner for the next guard. After him, the final guard in this car is at the back of it. You can wait for him to shoot, and when he pauses, rush in and kill him.

At the end of that car, shoot the gray box with a white and yellow tube on the floor. This is one of the six brake units you must destroy. Open the door, and stay to the right. Shoot the guard behind a crate, visible through the opened door.

Inch to the left, revealing more guards to be killed. After they're taken care of, proceed further in the car, until the metal crates. Peer through the opening to pick off the guards at the back of that car.

Once you've eliminated all visible guards, one will still remain, too far back to see. Wait for the pause in his shooting, and rush to kill him. Behind him, is that car's brake unit to be destroyed. Watch for guards coming through the door.

Open the door, and lean out to the right to surprise the guards in the hallway. There is a locked door in front of you, and the guard inside will come out at random. It's wise not to leave that car until he comes out, because he'll surprise you later on by sneaking up from behind.

Proceed to the end of the car, taking out the brake unit on the floor, by the end door.

Open the doors, and jump back, leaning out to shoot. Once you've cleared the close guards in that car, look towards where you entered the car for the brake unit. Your back was facing it when you past it, and it is the easiest one to miss. At the end of the car, a guard waits with his back partially to you.

Now you enter the tricky parts. Armored guards with double ZMGs await in the remaining cars. Their positions are random, and each one is never in the same spot two times through the level. Just be prepared to expect one, two, or even three behind each door.

The door halfway through the first green car is a difficult situation. You open the door, and guards on either side of you open their doors, and attack. Open the door, and jump back and left, at an angle so only one can ambush you at a time. Once all are killed off, proceed to the next room, where more guards await.

At the end of the green car, is another brake unit to be destroyed. After destroying it, open the door to find a lone guard waiting in a grayish car. Shoot him, and recover his gun. Turn around and face the door where you entered.

Shoot the brake unit, and the train screeches to a stop. Immediately face right, around the corner, to take out two guards armed with ZMGs who will come running. One has the key for the final door of the train.

You enter the last car, faced with a predicament. General Ourumov holding Natalya at gunpoint. Behind him are Trevelyan and Xenia. Position yourself so that Ourumov is blocking your view of Xenia. Shoot Ourumov, and when he falls, you'll hit Xenia. This is critical: Hitting Xenia wins you extra valuable time to escape from the train before it explodes, so Natalya can hack the password.

Get to work on the floor grate with your watch laser, melting away the gray stitches that hold it together. Once it's opened, do not jump down, but wait ready to jump out. As soon as the message appears on screen that Natalya has hacked the password, and Objective D: Completed, jump out, and Natalya will follow. If you jump out before Natalya hacks the password, she'll follow, without hacking it, and the mission will be a failure.

Once out of the train, head to the right, and run. Run for what seems like forever, ignoring the guards behind you. You'll eventually reach the front of the train, where the cinema scene of Natalya and Bond escaping kicks in. Mission Completed.
